Gmail just gives a blank page in IE7

Can't access Gmail? The older version of Gmail probably still works properly.

A number of users woke up one morning to find their Windows PCs had been rebooted (via Windows Update), and when they attempted to go into Gmail, all they got was a blank page.

They all have one thing in common - they are all running Internet Explorer 7 installed on either Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista

Never fear, there is a workaround. You can still use Gmail from IE7 if you use the older interface instead of the Newer Version. You can force it by adding ui=1 to the address:

http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be enough just to tell Gmail that you want to use the Newer Version. What happens here is that Google simply ignores your preference and resets the interface to the Newer Version every time.

Another and perhaps "better" workaround is, of course, to use Firefox instead of IE7.
