In order to enable Content Protection through IT Policies in BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you must be running:

• BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 and 4.1
• BlackBerry Device Software Version 4.0 to 4.7
• Java based BlackBerry device
• BlackBerry Connect Transport Stack Version 4.0

Follow the steps below to turn on Content Protection on the BlackBerry device using IT policies.

1. In BlackBerry Manager, select the Global tab of the BlackBerry Domain.
   
2. In the Tasks menu, click Properties.
   
3. In the left pane, select IT Policy.
   
4. Double-click IT Policies in the right pane.
   
5. Select the IT policy that Content Protection is to be turned on for and click Properties.
   
6. Select the Security Policy Group.
   
7. Select the Content Protection Strength policy in the right pane.
   
8. Using the drop-down list, select the appropriate Content Protection Strength.
   
9. Click Apply.

Note: The BlackBerry smartphone uses this IT policy rule only if the Password Required IT policy rule is set to True.
