On a BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.1 for Lotus Domino, BlackBerry State Database pruning is enabled, but for various reasons may be turned off by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrator. State database pruning is the process used to limit and clean up each BlackBerry smartphone user's state database to remove old message links and ensure the BlackBerry smartphone users' state databases do not grow to an unmanageable size. If BlackBerry smartphone users' state databases grow too large, they can negatively impact the operation of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. To enable state database pruning, complete the following steps: - Open BlackBerry Manager.
- In the left panel, select the name of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server on which you want to enable state database pruning.
- Select the Server Configuration tab in the right panel.
- Click Service Control & Customization.
- Click State Database Pruning.
- In the dialog box, verify that the Disable State Database Pruning option is not selected. If it is, clear it.
- The default settings for state database pruning are half a year after deletion, and one and a half years since creation.
Note: If you find that BlackBerry smartphone users have large state databases (25 MB or larger) and pruning is already enabled, you may want to modify these numbers.
